App Factory Timeline

Stages of an App Factory Project

1

Development

Partner

This continues until Triumph is notified

During this stage, you are responsible for completing the construction of the app and its contents in preparation for internal testing.

You'll also coordinate with Triumph to provide the necessary details and applicable credentials to ensure everything is ready.

2

Configuration

TRIUMPH TECH

Estimated time: 1-3 days

When the app is ready to be tested, Triumph will begin the configuration process. This includes creating custom Android and iOS apps with your icon, splash screen, and custom fonts if applicable.

You'll also set up your App Factory subscription before testing begins.

3

Testing

Partner

This continues until Triumph is notified

When configuration is complete, Triumph will send out testing invites to the desired individuals. This is a time to test different accounts and ensure the apps are ready for app store reviews.

This is the final stage of preparation before the app is published live.

4

Reviews

TRIUMPH TECH

Estimated time: 3-7 days

When the app content is fully implemented and functionality tested, Triumph will submit the iOS and Android apps for review.

There are many variables that can affect review time. It's important that changes are not made to the app while it's under review.

5

Publishing

TRIUMPH TECH

Triumph won't publish until you're fully ready

If either app is rejected, Triumph will relay the details to you and coordinate re-submission when the issue(s) have been resolved.

Once the apps have been approved by both Apple and Google, they can be released on your desired weekday (though we'd avoid Friday).

Push Notifications

Push notifications made simple.

Triumph Messaging allows your Rock instance to send unlimited push notifications. We provide you with the API keys to enable the Rock Push Transport in your Rock instance so you can send push messages using the native tools inside of Rock.

Mobile Shell Updates

Rock Mobile Shell Updates

Due to the amount of testing a new Shell update means for your app, you should only consider updating your Shell when there is a specific new feature you would like to add to your application or bug you would like to fix. When you do update be sure to test your application thoroughly before releasing it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you can choose to use your Apple and Google developer store accounts or ours. If you use your own accounts, you'll need to keep up with the frequent contract update acknowledgements they send out and make sure they are always signed and ready to go.
In most cases, we can keep your app history and comments by deploying your new Rock Mobile app over the top of your current app.
No. You may build your Rock Mobile app in-house or contract with Triumph to build it for you. The cost to build your app depends on the features you wish to include. Talk with our team for a quote.
No. The App Factory Publishing Service plan includes only the initial deploy of your Shell to the app stores and the ongoing updates to the Shell to include new features. There is no additional support provided to answer Rock Mobile app development questions.
No, although Triumph offers monthly app support and development retainers if you would like to work with our team to continue building out your Rock Mobile app.
Yes, it will be possible to transfer the app to your developer accounts at a later date for a nominal fee to cover the time to process the move.
Don't worry. You will control the timing for each Shell update. Once you tell us you're ready, we'll complete the update and redeploy the Shell for you according to your preferred timeline.
Apple and Google make in-app giving difficult. While Rock Mobile does not have specific controls for in-app giving it is possible that your giving platform could implement it through an embedded web view. This configuration and approval process is the responsibility of the submitting church, their support partner, and the giving platform. The submission information required by Apple and Google must be provided to App Factory before we will be able to submit. Rejection fees may apply (see below).
Apple and Google have long lists of things that you're not allowed to do in your app. This can make the process of approval difficult. Triumph is not able to ensure that all of the apps authored by third parties follow these rules. This often causes the need for several re-submissions to provide additional clarification and required information. If your app is rejected based on content or features not allowed by Apple or Google, we will charge an additional $150 per re-submission after one grace attempt. If the cause of the rejection is related to Rock Mobile or an issue with our submission, a charge will not be incurred.
The Apple and Google app stores evaluate app submissions to make sure they meet their standards. We have compiled some tips for app developers to highlight content and development standards that will help prevent multiple resubmissions.
